Hebrews 13:17
"Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves:
for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account,
that they may do it with joy, and not with grief:
for that is unprofitable for you."
"Obey Those That Are In Charge of You!"
Pastors, parents, teachers and bosses have to give an account for what they tell you to do.
It may perturb your leader if you disobey him/her but ultimately it is bad for you.
Give your leaders an easy time by obeying them that they might lead you with joy.
This specifically applies and counts most with your spiritual leaders.
Your spiritual leaders however, must come from God. He will let you know who they are.
A true spiritual leader sent of God to you will always love you and have your best interest in mind.
Most of all, your true spiritual leader will pray and consult God's Word before instructing you.

Lord Jesus, please help me to have a true servants heart that follows the instructions of the leaders You put into my life.
I want to honor Your Kingdom with my faithful obedience.
I resist a defiant and rebellious spirit from having any part of me.

Be aware that the enemy of your soul relentlessly looks for opportunities to twist your thinking.
You are most powerful when your thoughts are pure and centered on things above.
What you allow your mind to think about will come out of your mouth and what you say has power.
When your thoughts start going haywire, allow the Holy Spirit to remind you to reel them in.
This is part of the fight we must fight as soldiers in God's Army.

If we are not careful we can find our selves always wishing for more.
Be thankful and be content where you are and with what you have.
What is yours from God is coming and what is not yours, you are better off without.
God will NEVER forsake His children that serve Him with all of their heart.
Don't talk about what someone else has that you don't have but give God glory for here and now.

Lord Jesus, I am so thankful for what You have done for me and for all You have given to me.
I thank You for salvation (the freedom from the effects of sin) and for the chains of bondage being broken in my life.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
"Jesus is the Word Was With God During the Creation of the World"
Everything that was made was made by God and Jesus (the Word) was there from the beginning.
Throughout our study of John we will see other names for our Lord and Savior Jesus.
Take time to read and study who Jesus really is. He is not a person of the past but is alive and well today!

Lord Jesus, I am ready and willing to study Your Word and to learn about who You are.
My goal is to be with You in eternity very soon and to hear You say "well done" to me.

People who live in darkness can see the light in us but they do not understand it and will mock it.
Our job is to let our light shine among others that they might see our good works and glorify God and be saved too!

John 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
John 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
John 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
"John Was Sent By God To Introduce and Be a Witness of Jesus (the Light)"
John paves the road for Jesus to come onto the scene.
It was and is still important to God that all men and women believe in Jesus, forgiven of their sins and be saved.
John was not that Light but came to be a witness or verify that Jesus is the Light.

John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
"Jesus Was and Is the True Light and There is NO Deceit or Lie In Him!"
Jesus came into the world as a human and though He made the world, the world didn't recognize Him.
Jesus came to His own people and many rejected Him.
Those who believed on Jesus received the power from Jesus to become the sons of God.
Today, Jesus is still giving those who believe on Him the power to become sons of God.
The power He gives us enables us to live right and according to His Word.
We cannot live right in our own strength which is why we must completely rely on His Word and His power.
It is God's will that every man everywhere would be saved, but He will not over ride your will.

Lord Jesus, I receive Your power this day to be one of Your children.
I am proud of my Kingdom heritage and I vow to act like Your child according to Your Word.
I will grow in Wisdom and strength as You teach and lead me.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
John1:16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
"Jesus Was and Still is Full of Grace and Truth"
Jesus came to earth and lived among us in a human body, but without sin.
Truth means the opposite of lies, deceptions and the truth makes us free.
Grace is the supernatural help to make us and keep us separated from the world and its sin.
Grace and truth are given to us freely by Jesus.
Truly having Jesus rule your life will make you complete and without lack.

John 1:19 And this is the record of John,
when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him,
Who art thou?

John records his encounters with Jesus and is asked in these verses who he (John) is.
Jesus was the only man who had seen God the Father and came to earth preach God's Word.

Lord Jesus, I understand that You, the Father and the Holy Spirit are One.
I Worship Your name because it is above every other name.

John 1:20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
John 1:21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias?
And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
John 1:22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou?
that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
John 1:23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness,
Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
John 1:24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.
"Pharisees Trying to Figure Out Who John Is"
Pharisees were Jews who were strict concerning their rights, laws, traditions and ceremonies.
John tells them that he is not Jesus or the prophet Elias, but that he is just a voice (humble servant)
that came to introduce Jesus and to verify that Jesus is the Son of God.

Lord Jesus, I confess with my mouth that You and only You are the Living Son of the only Living God.
It is my desire to remain humble like John and to introduce You to a lost and dying generation that does not believe.

John 1:25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?
John 1:26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
John 1:27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.
John 1:28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
"John Humbles Himself Before the Pharisees"
The Pharisees asked John why is he baptizing people if he is not the son of God or the prophet Elias.
John humbly describes Jesus' greatness to them, instead of talking about himself.
We should be like John, boldly introducing Jesus others and not trying to lift up ourselves.

Lord Jesus, I humble myself in Your sight and I commit to walking humbly before those who see me.
While I am a son of God, I choose to walk meekly, not trying to glorify myself, but to glorify You.

"Jesus is Called the Lamb of God"
Before Jesus came, God required blood shed for the remission or forgiveness of sins.
Jesus came as the perfect Lamb to be killed for the forgiveness of all sins for everyone.
There is nothing more precious than the Lamb of God who took away our sins.
We are free to be born again by believing on the Name of Jesus and asking Him to forgive us.

Lord Jesus, I thank You so much for being willing to be that Precious Lamb of God.
Thank You for choosing to come to earth in a human body just to be slain for my sins.

Jesus tells Nicodemus in this verse that though we have
already been born,we must be born again.
No matter what someone has done, God will forgive them for their sins and make them clean inside.
This is the ONLY way to see the Kingdom of God.
Don't let anything stop you from getting this most important message out to everyone!

Jesus said that those who do evil hate the light (Him).
Those who desire to come to the Light must turn from their evil ways and be forgiven.

Jesus is the speaking here about being renewed by His Word that is like a spring that keeps giving water.
Worldly things sometimes feel good but they don't last and they don't satisfy and they often lead to troubles.
Drink the Word of God daily and watch how it miraculously changes you and keeps you right with God!

It is our job to tell others the truth and to leave opinions out of it.

Jesus is saying here that we are not greater than Him.
He is the Master and we are the servants.
Also, we must remember that since He suffered, we will also suffer sometimes.
When we suffer however, we must remember that He sent the Comforter to help us through it!

Make it a habit to sacrifice your time and go out of your way to help someone.
When you do help someone do it as secretly as you can know that God sees.
Also, revenge should not be in the vocabulary of a follower of Christ.
Vengeance belongs to God alone.

In this dying world, Jesus is still the life and He is the ONLY way to God the father.
You may not know all of the Bible answers, but you can always point others to Jesus.

Jesus was on earth for only a short time and He told us that we would do greater works than He did.
Tap into His power by knowing His Word, hearing His voice and do whatever He tells you to do.
The Lord will give you absolute power and authority to do whatever He commands you to do.
Don't forget that power is not the only benefit of an obedient soldier but also blessing!

Lord Jesus, I want to be used for Your Kingdom in a greater way than I've ever been used.
